How about something I know ...or wanting to know something I shouldn't know??
Worse, would be not wanting to know that which I should know.
That's not to mean the mixed wisdom, or possible wayward arrogant advice of those who feel they know the best for us. At times, they may ...but, often not.
That's not to assume that we always know what's best for ourselves.
Not wanting to know all the sorted details of how a loved one was drunk when they got in a car accident ...does not qualify as something we should know. We should have compassion enough to want to help guard the feelings of those we care about.
But, there are cases of not wanting to know ...which are either stubborn, or careless. Not wanting to know the ill effects of marijuana, legalizing abortion, or divisive divorces ...all classify themselves as rather irresponsible.
The worse that I was about to mention ...is not wanting to know about God.
And in ignoring what we could know, we put instead ...ourselves in the driver's seat. We attempt to know what is not knowable ...or what is untrue.
We try to provide answers to things without regard to those who have thought harder and longer than we have about these things.
Suppose there is an important document that you carelessly spill acid on. Languishing, you don't feel like rewriting what you recall from the document at that disappointing moment, so you roll it up for another day.
Well, later doesn't come ...at first dreading the thought of the task, and later seeming to forget about it for the most part. It seems to no longer interest you.
Someone else comes along later ...and sparks your interest. You unroll the document, and you see fragments of what was once there. Spurred on by your friend who tells you not to be discouraged, together you begin to fill in the blanks.
The blanks bring about the theory of evolution. Yet, the difference with my story and reality is ....the document of the Bible is not destroyed. No blanks have to be filled in.
Some people find it exciting to create something new ...and kind of forget, or choose to ignore that their Creator created them.
And even more so ...left them with the truth.
If I say you can't change the Bible, does that compel you to even more do so??
